The Art Door

grey door

Through this door is a world of creativity where you can express how you feel about things around you. You will learn that Art has no one correct outcome; that it is a reflection of your own personal response and, over time, you will get better at representing what you envisage. Creating will be magical.

Creating will be inspiring.

Creating will be a journey.

Your teacher will allow you to explore, experiment and hone your mastery of techniques. You will experience a range of materials and learn which media best reflects the emotion you are trying to convey. There will always be challenge; through challenge you can reach new skills that were once locked behind thick, heavy doors. Some doors will be harder to open, some will open easily, but with practice you will see there are secret passageways, and that once one skill is unlocked, others will be quicker to find.

Art has influence; it has its roots embedded in history and reflects and shapes the world around us. You will learn about key artists and artistic movements; they will provoke in you a response. Some work you will connect with, others you won’t, but your teacher will help you to express the emotions you will feel about pieces of work explored.

Sometimes your work will need careful planning and you will need to gather ideas from a range of sources. Sometimes you will generate several pieces before your work reflects your original vision. And sometimes you will stumble across a new technique that opens up a whole new pathway.

Around the school you will see the fruits of your labour displayed proudly and perhaps you will inspire others.
