Music in action

Music is very important to Sandridge School children. All our children enjoy singing and playing instruments in their Music lessons and assemblies. In KS1 children learn music through songs and untuned and tuned percussion instruments. All children in Y3 and 4 learn to play recorder whilst Year 5 are taught Samba drums as part of Herts County Music First Access Scheme. In Year 6 ensemble groups play on a range of instruments and Music Technology is developed.

In KS1 there is an opportunity to join ‘Baby Bells’ , a bell ringing group at lunchtime. This group have performed superbly at Christmas and in Remembrance assemblies . In Key stage 2 the Choir and Junior and Senior Bands are very popular and play in three concerts a year as well as numerous assemblies and the School Fairs.
