Music at Sandridge

We have had a very busy start to term with the choir rehearsing and performing two songs in harmony at a special  assembly for Hector who celebrated his 100th birthday this month! The rest of the term looks like it will continue to be an exciting one for band and choir. We have once again had the honour of being asked to perform at the opening of the ‘St Leonard’s Church’s Flower Festival’  which is attended by the Mayor. This is followed by performances at two Harvest Services where we will perform a song which has been specially written for the choir along with ‘I am the Earth’ – both songs are in two part harmony and are performed by our 45 strong choir. Band and choir will then perform in our special Remembrance Assembly in school before starting to rehearse for our large scale Christmas Concert in which we traditionally have thirteen pieces performed by small ensemble groups, full band, solo singers, senior choir and full choir.

Our band  members practise every week on trumpets, flutes, clarinets, glockenspiel, guitars, ukulele, recorders and percussion. We are hoping to have a tuba player join us soon!

Our 45 strong choir  practise weekly and regularly sing two and three part harmonies confidently. There are no auditions – every KS2 child is welcome to join.
