Nursery look around dates
We have the following dates below for people to come and visit our Nursery. To book a place, please email email@example.com or ring 01727 850576.
FS1 has 26 places. Application forms and booklets are sent directly to parents by the local Education Authority. Parents look at state school nurseries and PVI (Private, Voluntary or Independent) nurseries and select which one they would like. They also identify reserve choices in case their first choice is unable to give them a place. Each school then allocates places according to County rules.
When the admissions are finalised, letters are sent to parents the term before the children are due to start, inviting the children and parents to a pre-visit. At Sandridge we offer all children a place to start in the Autumn term.
We always ensure that there is smooth transition from home to FS1, from FS1 to FS2 and then into Key Stage 1. We encourage home visits for all children new to Foundation Stage. We find home visits to be very beneficial in helping your child settle into school. It offers you and your child an opportunity to have an informal and friendly chat with your child’s new teachers in a safe environment and the chance to discuss your child’s interests and needs as well as to ask any questions you may have about your child’s entry to school confidentially. Home visits for children new to FS2 are carried out in the summer term and for FS1, early in the Autumn term. Admissions to FS2 are controlled by Hertfordshire County Council. FS2 has 30 places.
FS1 and FS2 work closely together as one unit. Children have the opportunity to play and work in both areas. Our Foundation Stage Unit is set in pleasant grounds with ample space for outdoor and indoor learning. We strongly believe in outdoor learning and children are encouraged to choose activities from both indoor and outdoor areas.
