It has been a successful year for our footballers and there has been a large amount of participation (competitive and non-competitive) across the school. Many children attend our after school club on a Friday and, as well as running training for our football squad, Mr. Sinclair also runs a girls’ football session during Tuesday lunchtimes.
Our school team has had a successful season and won the league by drawing one match and winning the rest. I hope you have managed to keep up to date with the detail of these performances in the reports the children have written in our weekly newsletters. We are awaiting the presentation of the trophy and will ensure that you get to see a picture when it arrives.
The school six-a-side team won their preliminary group and qualified to play in the finals that took place at the beginning of May. We eventually finished third in our very competitive finals group and took heart from the fact that we had beaten the overall winners in one of our qualifying matches.
We also entered a team in the Year 5 six-a-side tournament this year and some of the year 4s and 3s have also played in a friendly match against St. Peter’s School. Well done to everyone who represented the school at football this academic year!
